The resulting etched areas are then covered by an ink in the required colour, stoved and the original ink removed leaving etched sunk characters. An alternative to this is a simple contrast etch, matt characters on a polished background, this effect will withstand any amount of polishing and is a hardwearing alternative to etch and filled plaques. Surface printed Plaques A low cost option is to surface print using a two – pack epoxy ink. This can be used on both brass & st/steel plaques and provides a durable yet economic able plaque.
